It is hard to believe kids begging for vegetables, but it really is true in case of kale. You girls always loved both the taste and crispiness of baked kale in olive oil.
To make this you will need:
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Kale, any variety.
Kale is available year round in the supermarkets. In the summer we would get it from our wonderful local farms.
Kick off by heating your oven to about 415 deegrees Fahrenheit.
Then, using your hands, rip the leaves apart from their stalks into the desired chip size.
Rinse the leaves under cold water in a colander until no more dirt. Squeeze or shake off as much water as possible
Spread the leaves on the cookie sheet.
In a small bowl pour some Olive oil. Using a brush, spread oil over each leaf covering all sides.
Sprinkle with salt. Like other chips, baked chip taste better salty. Still don’t over do it, you can always add more salt later on.
Place your cookie sheet into the preheated oven on a lower rack.
During cooking time, check on your chips regularly and turn them over as needed.
Your chips are done once the leaves begin to look dried up, crispy.
Should take about 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and serve. Yes you may add more salt at this time.
Happy kid munching on her kale chips. She likes eating them a lot, posing for her mom’s blog photos not so much 😁
